They are responsible for organizing regional and national physics Olympiads for high school students, as well as the release of their journal “Gazeta da Física” and also the bianual national Physics conference, the Iberian gathering for physics education and the gathering of physics and chemistry professors. These are some of the initiatives and activities of the organization. On an international level, SPF represents Portugal and is associated to several entities such as European Physical Society (EPS) and the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP).
